What is the importance of education?
Webster defines education as the process of education and teaching. Education is still defined by these definitions, we can therefore assume that the goal of education on the knowledge, develop skills, or is “to develop the knowledge, skills and character …” the character of students.
It is also defined in Oxford, that education is the knowledge, skills and character development and spiritual forces that will be driven by intellectual, moral and physical. So we can say that someone won Education has additional knowledge, skills and change in the character and spiritual power.
While Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, states that:
Education encompasses teaching and learning specific skills, but also something less tangible but more profound knowledge of the mediation, the positive evaluation and a well-developed wisdom. Education has as one of its fundamental aspects of the transmission of culture from generation to generation (see socialization).Education means ‘pull’, facilitating realization of self-potential and latent talents of an individual. This is an application of pedagogy, a body of theoretical and applied research related to teaching and learning and draws on many disciplines such as psychology, philosophy, computer science, linguistics, neuroscience, sociology and anthropology.
From the above quote is assumed that education is not only the transfer of knowledge and skills, but in particular it makes people a positive outlook and a well-developed wisdom, and better characters have spiritual powers. Through education a person will be able to search through their natural talent and self-potential and enable them to win and eventually self-esteem and a better life.
The history of education according to Dieter Lenzen, president of the Free University of Berlin 1994 “began either millions of years or at the end of 1770.”Education as a science can not get out of the pedagogical tradition, separated before existed. Education was the natural response of early civilizations, the struggle to survive and thrive as a culture. Adults trained the young of their society in the knowledge and skills they need to master and eventually pass.
The formation of a human individual begins, because he was born and continues throughout the entire life. Also, some people believe that education begins even before birth, as some parents playing music or reading, the baby in the womb the hope that it proves influence the development of the child. For some, put the struggles and triumphs of daily life far more than non-formal education. Family members can have a profound education – often deeper than they realize – though family teaching may function very informally.
Education: purpose, function and practice
Theorists have made between the objective of education and the functions of education. One goal is to achieve the fundamental objective of the process-end, while other functions results as a natural process, by-products or consequences can occur at school, is shown. To develop these words, it can in the fact that some teachers believe that the transfer of knowledge from teacher to student, the main purpose of education, are seen during the transfer of knowledge between the school and the world real or application of what was transferred is something that occurs naturally as a result of using this knowledge, it is called function of education.
Here are some quotes, the importance of education:
“The only purpose of education is to teach the students how to live deal at life through the development of his mind and equipping him with the reality. The training is theoretical, it must, therefore, conceptually. Think it needs to learn, understand, integrate, to prove to be. He must learn the fundamentals of knowledge discovered in the past and the boundary must be equipped with new knowledge through his own efforts “~ Ayn
“The aim of education should be to teach us how to think rather than what to think, but to improve our minds to think for ourselves, instead of loading into memory with the thoughts of other people.” ~ Bill Beattie
Based on the above information, we can say that the purpose of his education to prepare students in a position with their lives by taking to cope with the development of their minds and teach them, “hard skills” and “softer skills” with reality do. As a result of this education, they will be able to imagine, understand, integrate and demonstrate their performance.
Talk about the purpose of education, there are some insights about it. There are different perspectives on education between autocratic and democratic. It is clear that any kind of world view, a uniform type of training required. The autocrat wants to make education for obedient followers. So that’s why they prefer one type of education that aims to obedience, and obedience. However, democracy is different from them. Democracy wishes all people are able and willing to also judge for themselves. Democracy will seek some kind of education, responsibility, thinking, civic citizenship in all human aims.
This differs from the company also authoritarian. Want for them it is just enough for managers to know what they are, without thinking about what their people want. It is quite contrary to what a democratic society wants. For the democratic society leaders and most importantly – to see the vast majority of people must realize the goals / objectives of the type of training they have. In other words, in a democracy it is important that the leaders and people of clear philosophy of life and have a clear philosophy of education.
