Two hundred years after the American Revolution, America is still governed by its first constitution. We are now more a republic in the constitutional history of the world. A perspective, France has had eight constitutions in the same 200 years ago.Italy has 54 constitutions in 200 years. Why have we survived so long? This is because our founding fathers of our constitution, after a series of ideals that are unparalleled in the history of the built world.
Abraham Lincoln said: “The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.” If our founding fathers a successful philosophy of government, which obviously they had did, then it is very fitting that we return the class to see what they taught.
Harvard:
Harvard University is the oldest currently in the United States. Harvard has produced a number of our founding fathers, including John Quincy Adams, John Hancock, John Adams and Samuel Adams.
Harvard original aim was told his students: “To be clear, well-educated opinion that the main purpose of life and trials of God and Jesus Christ ….” A request to know is that the students “Any person must be exercised in reading the Scriptures twice a day, he should account for its capabilities.”
Yale:
Yale has also produced many fathers, men like Noah Webster, William Samuel Johnson, Abraham Baldwin. To read one of the prerequisites for the Yale students: “Seeing that God is the giver of all wisdom, every student, in addition, to his private and secret prayer, presenting the morning and evening for public prayer.”
Princeton:
Princeton, founded in 1746, has produced the likes of James Madison, Benjamin Rush and John Witherspoon. John Witherspoon was an ordained minister and was president of Princeton University (1768-1776) to New Jersey, sent to Congress.During these years in Princeton, the graduating class, on average, 17 to 28 students per year. During the nine years that at Princeton taught Witherspoon graduated from school a president, a vice president, three judges of the Supreme Court, ten members of the Cabinet, twelve governors, 21 senators and 39 members of U.S. Congress, and many of those state agencies place. A good third of the founding fathers were educated at Princeton University.
What was the philosophy of an institution that produced so many leaders? Founding statement of Princeton was: “Cursed be all learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ.” It is many years since we’ve seen this kind of vision of leadership in society according to God before us.
Basic documents:
There are four documents, the organic laws of the United States are considered (ie, the laws on which all other laws are set up): Articles of Confederation, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and the Northwest Ordinance.
The Northwest Ordinance tells a territory specifically to do what he is to become a State of the United States. Article three requires that no country could become a state, if the schools were teaching this area of ??religion and morality, and knowledge. As a result, the constitutions of many states are as follows: “. Forever in the schools of this state, religion and morals are taught and know” you, your country’s constitution.
Check out the educational philosophy of Fisher Ames: (He was the author of the First Amendment of the Constitution, which is now misunderstood that we have to separate God and government.)
“Well, then, if that new books should be held for children, as they are, why not bring the bible back to the place than a school book instead? His morals are pure. His examples are captivating and noble. And reverence holy before the book, The initial impression is of long duration and probably if not impressed in infancy, never takes firm hold of the mind. “
But today, under our interpretation of the change Fisher Ames, the Bible is not entitled to be studied in schools. We are operating far from the days when our country was founded. As in the founding documents of the most prestigious universities, education in America can be seen, was not on the pursuit of knowledge for knowledge’s sake, but rather on the pursuit of knowledge to glorify Christ. What has happened and happens mainly through the study of the Word of God.
The proposed first year, each of the founding universities of America, that the students a copy of the Greek New Testament has been written and a translation into English! Blessed are the schools that teach still have to keep the Bible and the Bible as the central source of education.
